Outgrown Home
Almost all my beasties evolve as I create them. Often the spark of an idea i have is radically different from what I end up with.
This beastie is a good example.
My original intent was something almost Baba Yagaish. A walking home in the woods. However, the more I worked the more it became a beastie Bursting from their home.
Why? Maybe they’ve outgrown it over time. Maybe they drank a bottle that said ‘Drink Me’ and shot up in an instant. Maybe they are like a hermit crab, and it is time to find a new estate to move into.
There is a charming sense of confused whimsy of this piece that pleases me and reassures that I should never stick too slavishly to my initial concept.
